Up with the Cockerells at the homestay this morning at 4am. Not a bad nights sleep but very hot and sweaty, just glad I survived without getting bitten.
Went to the floating market first thing which is amazing, how much they have on their boats and apparently some travel 8 hours to get there and sell all day. Our guide (Mr Pheongs daughter) was awesome too, got us singing on the boat, she knows more words than any of us. Definitely the best start to a day so far.
Unfortunately Aiya fell ill in the night so she and Yumi didn't come especially as they both got sea sick a few days earlier.
4 hours on the bus to Ho Chi Minh City, arrived 2 hours before check in, oh well 2 hours to kill then. Went drinking with Kel the tour guide while everyone else went to the market (shopping is not my thing). I think she needed to talk to someone herself instead of always being the agony aunt, feeling pretty stressed I think.
All went out for food and drinks tonight. To say goodbye to Yumi, Aiya and Gemma, so sad to see them leave, Yumi had some tears bless her, Gemma is excited to start her 5 week uni placement in Ho Chi Minh City and unfortunately Aiya is still ill so couldn't make it out.
And say hello to the newbies, 6 new people joining us, unfortunately 3 haven't arrived yet but met Gary from New Zealand, Alissa from Oz who are a couple and a bloke from Germany (sorry I forget his name), all seem cool and will enjoy getting to know them over the next few weeks.
Went to a place that was quite expensive and also decided to rip us off for $20, so won't be recommending that place to anyone. Also Sylvia got sick too (everyone seems to be dropping like flies at the moment). A few of us went to a roof top bar after which was nice.
Sounds an interesting day. Hope it's not a bug they have. Useful having am Aussie and New Zealander in the group for the next part of your travels, you can pick their brains.
